Three woods, chosen for heat.

Western red cedar. The premium choice: naturally resistant to rot, so it can stand outdoors untreated.

Eastern hemlock. Strong, even grain, and the most accessible of the three.

Finnish spruce or Scots pine. Fine, close grain.
Finish
Outdoor pieces can be left natural, smoked, or flame-charred black.
